Dogs begin learning at birth. Private work in your home can begin as soon as puppy comes home. The American Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior (AVSAB) recommends starting group puppy work and careful socializing one week after the first set of vaccines
Sessions at West Wind Dog Training are approximately one hour unless otherwise noted. When working outside the property, session may run a little longer.
West Wind Dog Training follows the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior and works to find the best and lowest stress way to work with you and your dog. See the AVSAB for more information. AVSAB Position Statements
The goal of West Wind Dog Training is to teach you what you need to know to bring out the best in your dog. This is done through you learning from us and then practicing with your dog.
Our philosophy is based on compassion and understanding to foster a positive relationship between you and your dog. We strive for lower-stress work based on the American Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior's position statements.
West Wind Dog Training works with dogs of any breed, cross, and age. However, the individual dog or situation may not be best served in a group setting. This is why private sessions may be recommended. If your dog has behavioral concerns towards other dogs or people, is fearful, a goofball lacking self-control (self-regulation) then please reach out to discuss options before registering for a group class.
