Willo'Wisp Ventura Farscape (named for a character off the series Farscape) is a Bi-Black Shetland Sheepdog from Ventura Kennels in New Hampshire.
Thanks to Martha Heckman and her daughter Sarah Foy for letting us have this guy.
D'Argo came to us in November of 2000 and really is amazing.
He is a quick study and really wants to work. However, D'Argo marches to the beat of his own drummer. He is very laid back and just goes at his own pace - and that is far from the Warp speed of his littermate,
Scooter, who is owned by my sister, Elizabeth Krause, DVM. His lack of speed and attitude has proven to be a handicap in Agility.
D'Argo is also the only dog I have ever had who routinely fell asleep during long-sits in Obedience competition. But he is accurate and willing with nice leash work. In the fall of 2006, D'Argo started in Rally and has his first RN leg. On May 19 D'Argo got his second leg with a score of 99 (out of 100) and a highest scoring Sheltie. He finished his Rally Novice title shortly thereafer, however, since he is now over ten, I am not sure if he will continue for a Rally Advanced or if he will just be the dog my children have learned with in preparation to begin working with faster, more intense dogs.
D'Argo is superb with children and is a demo dog for WWDT's Safe Kids/Safe Dogs program. On April 8, 2002, he was on WTTG Fox 5 news with my son Connor and myself to talk about dog safety. He is just amazing and handles life well! In the summer of 2006, he was a demo dog for a local 4-H club's dog project.
I did let his TDI certification lapse because we were not doign formal therapy work and the dog safety really did not apply. But he passed the test and that is what
was important to me.
